Hey there!
We wanted to give you a quick update about what's happening at House Journey HQ in Tweed Heads. If you've been following the news, you've likely heard about Tropical Cyclone Alfred that's making its way through our region.
The Situation with Cyclone Alfred
The Bureau of Meteorology named Tropical Cyclone Alfred on 23 February 2025, making it the sixth cyclone of the 2024/25 season. What started as a distant weather system has developed into a significant event affecting our beautiful Northern NSW coast.
Transport NSW has warned that strong winds, heavy rainfall, and potential major flooding are expected from Taree to Tweed Heads. There's already footage showing the storm front approaching our area, and it's every bit as intense as it looks.
How This Affects Your Orders
Here's the straight-up truth: we're experiencing some shipping delays. While we're still accepting and processing your orders (because we love what we do!), getting them to your doorstep might take a bit longer than usual.
Current delay estimates:
- Standard shipping: Expect at least one week of additional wait time
Some areas might be more affected than others, especially if you're in the path between Taree and Tweed Heads. The situation is changing rapidly, so these estimates might adjust as conditions evolve.
Our Courier Network Is Feeling It Too
Our delivery partners are doing their absolute best under challenging conditions. Transport for NSW has advised avoiding unnecessary travel through cyclone-affected areas, which impacts the routes our couriers can take.
The last freight trains to restock major supermarkets before the cyclone hits are being prioritised – and while we can't compete with essential supplies for priority shipping (understandably so!), we're working closely with our delivery partners to get your House Journey items to you as soon as safely possible.
What You Can Do

Stilling accepting orders
Despite the wild weather, we're still here, still accepting orders.
We appreciate your understanding during this time. As Australians, we understand that sometimes nature throws us curveballs, and we need to adapt accordingly.
Stay safe and dry!
P.S. If you're in an affected area yourself, please prioritise your safety above all else. Check the SES website or call 132 500 for assistance if needed.
