With House Journey Lay-by you can secure the items you want and pay them off over time.

You can set up your Lay-by at completion of placing your online order. We will store the products for you, so you don’t have to worry about prying eyes discovering their next present or surprise.

To set up your Lay-by you will need to create an account with House Journey. For each Lay-by order you create you need to pay a one-off, non-refundable service fee. This fee is based on your order total and will be calculated at the time of opening your Lay-by.

 

Each Lay-by order has a minimum spend of $50. You will also need to pay 10% of the purchase price as a deposit. But don’t worry, if things change you can cancel your order at any time. A cancellation fee of $20 will apply.

Frequently Asked Questions

Some clearance or sale items may not be available for lay-by. In these cases, a member of a team will reach out to advise you. We currently do not have a system in place to advise prior.

Unfortunately at this time we are unable to take Lay-by payments over the phone. All Lay-by payments are handled by PayPal.

It's your responsibility to make the regular Lay-by repayments and collect your purchases by the due date (click & collect orders only). Failure to make payments when they are due or collect Lay-bys by the due date will be treated as cancellation of the Lay-by.

If your Lay-by is cancelled, you will be entitled to a refund of the amount you have paid, less a termination fee of $20 (which is in addition to the non refundable service fee).

There is no limit to the number of Lay-bys you can create but you will be required to pay the non refundable fee for each new Lay-by.

You will need to create a new Lay-by order for any additional items that you want to purchase.
We cannot alter a Lay-by once it is opened.

Yes, your deposit is refundable, however the service fee is non-refundable and a $20 cancellation fee applies.

Yes, you will still earn points on your Lay-by order. These points will be credited in full up front, and may be revoked if you cancel your Lay-by.

PayPal will then auto attempt again in 5 days, two more times – please ensure you have sufficient funds, and have the correct card linked in your PayPal setup.

You can login to your PayPal account – go to settings > payments > pre-approved payments.

Your Lay-by will not display on your House Journey customer profile at this time.

PayPal auto-cancel a profile if they cannot link the recurring payments to a card in the customer’s setup.
And they then have to unfortunately cancel the plan.
These are the steps the customer needs to follow to rectify their setup, and link the correct card.

Login to PayPalClick ‘settings’Click ‘payments’Click ‘manage automatic payments’Click ‘set available funding sources’

You will then see the credit card and/or bank card that’s linked to your a/c setup.

You need to ensure the correct card is residing here, and select for the recurring payments to work.

You can then try place order again – and this next time, the plan will not be auto-cancelled.

Note in these instances, you will need to pay the service fee to open a new Lay-by. It is at the discretion of our team if the cancelation fee will be imposed.
